Lis and Mylittlebus
October 2009 - After a dog show in Casino, and a couple of nights at the Casino Village, we decided to return to Brisbane via The Lions Road.  Having
used this road before, I was aware of the 40k of slow, hilly, winding and narrow road with many narrow, rickety, timber, one way bridges.  I love this road.
Come have a look - below.
Left - The Jacarandas were in good form in Kyogle.

Below - Wangaree - just north of Kyogle.
Rest area at Wangaree
Between Kyogle and the Lions Road turnoff
A three kilometer dirt road detour......
The beginning of The Lions Road
Beautifully clean drinking water from
the top of the Range. The 80 litre
drinking water tank was filled.
We only just managed to get completely off the road which was just as well -
the volume of traffic was surprising.  We spent a good half hour here.

building project, please click

The photo of the plaque, at right, was borrowed
from that site.  All other photos were taken by
me.
And then Photoshop put the tree back together again.
Yes, there is a railway line that crosses the
Border Ranges here - and obviously still in
use.  The line is called The Spiral Loop
railway as this is exactly what it does at the
top - a spiral loop.
Thank you for joining me on this lovely scenic route.
