on Wednesday 30th Sep 09.
Westie litters can be touch and go for a several days.  They are just so tiny
- but we are quietly confident at day 3 [above] as all are active, vigorous
[despite what you see here] and all seem to have a full little belly.

notified via this website and/or photos.  The litter has not, and will not be, publicised or advertised.  You
will see on the Redinbrin website under Westie Litter News on the Announcement page "No news".

1.  With Westie litters being so touchy, Amanda did not want to 'jinx' them with too much confidence in
having any to sell.

2.  Westie litters can be very small [five is great!!] and there were always two dogs staying - Bella and a
girl for Amanda - well that has now become a boy for Amanda.

3.  The sire of this litter was out-sourced in Adelaide for the purpose of bringing in a new bloodline.  This
will allow us to mate Bella with Angus in a couple of years time and it also fits in with other plans for
bringing a dog out from Ireland.  We have of course, no problem in choosing a girl for me, but in wishing
now to choose the male with the best potential, the litter will be kept until they are at least 12 weeks old
rather than the normal eight weeks.  Mind you - even at twelve weeks, one is only looking at potential - not
certainty - of having picked the best dog.

4.  To avoid another frenzy of phone calls [as happened with the Golden Retriever puppies], we have
simply kept the litter mostly to ourselves.
There will be almost a fortnight's delay in
photos now as I will be in Casino next
weekend, so there will be a huge difference
for you to see next time.

even though I still can't pick Bella out from the bunch without turning her over.
is a wonderful mother.   This can't always be taken for granted especially with Westies..
The pink stuff at Lucianne's neck is raw
chicken carcass.  The puppies are already
eating minced chicken and beginning to chew
[suck?] on the carcasses.

24 October 2009 - Bella and her brothers are now outdoors - in a purpose built, portable pen.  They now sleep in the shed at night but will soon stay in this pen 24
hours because of the special box on the end.

The puppies were put in a tempoarry
holding pen alongside the Goldens,
while the outdoor pen was being
scrubbed.  This was their first close
encounter with other dogs.

And this was his reward.  Not much of this any more.  Just some draining off for Lucianne really.
31 October 2009 - The Westies have their first serious
interaction with the Golden Retriever Puppies - Mercedes
Litter.  These puppies are four days older than the Westies.
